How to Get Your Florida Marriage License
Apply in person at any Florida county clerk's office. Both parties must appear together with valid photo ID. Florida residents have a mandatory 3-day waiting period after the license is issued before the marriage can be performed; this waiting period is waived if both applicants complete an approved 4-hour premarital preparation course from a registered provider and present the certificate of completion at the time of application. Non-Florida residents have no waiting period. Both residents and non-residents receive a $25 discount on the license fee with a completed premarital course. The license is valid for 60 days from the date of issuance and can be used in any Florida county. The Duval County Clerk's Office in downtown Jacksonville is the closest option for most of our clients.
What to Expect at the Ceremony
We arrive at your chosen location with the legal documents ready. The ceremony is brief, professional, and dignified — typically five to fifteen minutes. We perform the legal solemnization required by Florida law, you and your spouse exchange vows (your own or standard vows), your two witnesses sign, and the officiant completes the marriage certificate. After the ceremony, we file the completed certificate with the county clerk's office.
Multilingual Ceremonies
We perform ceremonies in English, Albanian, Spanish, and Italian — or in a combination of languages if the couple and their families speak different languages. This is especially meaningful for couples from immigrant families where older relatives may not speak English fluently.
Service Area
Jacksonville and all of Duval County, St. Johns County (including St. Augustine and Ponte Vedra Beach), Clay County (including Orange Park and Fleming Island), and Nassau County (including Fernandina Beach and Amelia Island). Beach ceremonies, park ceremonies, backyard ceremonies, and courthouse ceremonies are all welcome.
Frequently Asked Questions
How long is the ceremony? A standard civil ceremony takes five to fifteen minutes. If you have your own vows, readings, or cultural elements you want included, let us know in advance and we will accommodate them within the legal ceremony framework.
Can we write our own vows? Yes. You can use your own vows, traditional vows, or a combination. The only legal requirement is that the ceremony includes a declaration of intent and a pronouncement — we handle that part.
What if we do not have two witnesses? Let us know when you book. We can arrange witnesses for your ceremony if you do not have two people available.
Can you perform the ceremony in Albanian or Spanish? Yes. We perform ceremonies in English, Albanian, Spanish, and Italian. For bilingual couples or families, we can conduct the ceremony in two languages so everyone present understands.
Do you travel to the beach? Yes. Beach ceremonies at Jacksonville Beach, Ponte Vedra Beach, Amelia Island, and St. Augustine Beach are common. We arrive early, handle the legal paperwork, and perform the ceremony at your chosen spot. See our mobile notary service for details on our full travel coverage area.
